Declare Oregon’s Dependence on God

Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Noon

As citizens of Oregon, we are convening a Solemn Assembly.

Meet at the Circuit Rider on the East side of the Capitol.

This gathering coincides with President Trump’s re-dedication in Washington D.C. of “One Nation, Under God.”

Things to know:

This is a solemn assembly, not a worship or warfare gathering.  The only flag will be Oregon's state flag.

We will gather with discretion as to not draw extra attention to ourselves. No social media.

Tell us you're coming for a headcount. We will be providing communion and myrtle seeds.

There will be a small amount of walking. Parking is free on Sundays.

This is what we're going to do:

For three days beforehand, consecrate ourselves.

Just as Robert Hunt had everyone consecrate themselves for three days in 1607 before setting foot on the Virginia shore, we will do the same.

CONSECRATION, noun
The act or ceremony of separating from a common to a sacred use, or of devoting and dedicating a person or thing to the service and worship of God, by certain rites or solemnities. consecration does not make a person or thing really holy, but declares it to be sacred, that is, devoted to God or to divine service (Webster, 1828)

As in Joshua 1:11 and 3:5, seek God for how to consecrate yourself for three days before May 17: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

On May 17 at Noon, we will meet at the Circuit Rider to:

Repent for the Spirit of Haughtiness.

Throughout Oregon's history the predominate attitude has been "I do it myself." From the Wolf Meetings to the motto "She flies on her own wings," Oregonians have valued self-exaltation that ultimately displaces God. These sins reflect deep moral and spiritual corruption, targeting the heart, speech, actions, and relationships.

HAUGHTINESS, noun
The quality of being haughty; pride mingled with some degree of contempt for others; arrogance. (Webster, 1828)

"Before destruction is pride, and before stumbling -- a haughty spirit." Proverbs 16:18 YLT

As in 2 Chronicles 7:14-16 and Daniel 9:3-19, we will say, "To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against [Him]."

Declare our Dependence on God.

We will have a Declaration of Dependence expounding these three points: we humble ourselves before God, declare that Oregon belongs to Him, and that we stand for the Lord in Oregon.

Sow seeds of Covenant.

We will have Myrtle tree seeds. Myrtle trees are native to Oregon. In Scripture, myrtles symbolize peace, restoration, divine blessing, and enduring hope. It is an evergreen.

"Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree, And instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree; And it shall be to the Lord for a name, For an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off." Isaiah 55:13

Rededicate to the Union.

The State of Oregon entered into Covenant with the United States of America in 1859. But the State of Oregon has been operating in open rebellion to that Covenant and to the Union. We will stand in the gap and repent for breaking that Covenant and rebelling against the Union. This will be done in conjunction with the re-dedication of One Nation Under God taking place the same day in Washington, D.C.

"So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one." Ezekiel 22:30

All these will be accomplished."Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'" Isaian 6:8

We will end with Communion to seal the Lord's Victory.
